Community Events Manager at Vermont PBS

Vermont PBS is seeking an innovative, creative and enthusiastic team builder to serve as our Community Events Manager. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in project management and high attention to detail and will be responsible for the planning and execution of a wide range of advancement initiatives, including but not limited to: donor relations events, fundraising events and public relations events.

Responsible for the oversight, budgeting, planning and implementation of Vermont PBS’ community and in-house events

Assist the Director of Community Engagement with large-scale signature events

Maintain effective history and databases of all event vendors, volunteers and important event information.

Creating regular reports for senior management and tracking event metrics/analytics

Institute timelines and checklists and track progress for all event management

Develop creative event management and marketing tools and techniques

Work with community partners and local government to coordinate meetings, site visits, permitting etc. for all events

Schedule, organize, set up and attend all community events

Work with the Director of Community Engagement to establish annual event budgets and goals

Coordinate promotion, marketing and media opportunity for events

Communicate with and lead the event staff on event task delegation

Recommend and develop feasible, cost-effective or profitable new events as needed

Coordinate all volunteers for events

Manage all community events content on Vermont PBS’ website as well as on various media websites and online calendars.

Experience working with Trello or other project management systems is a plus

Skills & Experience

BA/BS with 3-4 years of event management or similar experience

Expertise with various audio and visual formats, A/V interfaces and equipment a must

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Comfortable with public speaking and assuming host/emcee duties

Proven marketing experience preferred

Proven event management experience preferred

Effective project management skills

Ability to establish strong partnerships and build collaborative efforts

Must exercise a high degree of diplomacy, collaboration and problem-solving

Organized with ability to multi-task in fast paced environment

Attention to detail

Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Positive ‘can do’ attitude

Must have own reliable transportation and valid driver license. Vehicle may be used for events.

Additional Information

Working Hours: A flexible schedule is required to support meetings and events which may occur outside normal business hours such as nights and weekends for scheduled events

Travel: Approximately 40% travel or more to manage events
